</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">So, I have been in Amman for two months and I made my first real grocery trip to the store today. Honestly the shopping culture here is not like back home. I am use to those big trips to Costco and stalking up for the next 6 months on pantry goods but here people make nightly trips to the local corner store rather than the big French chain store. Tonight I made a visit to my local store for more than just my usual Pepsi and galaxy bar fix. Instead, I bought supplies to prepare my favorite easy food in Jordan. </div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

The other night I had met a little puppy out on the street and it followed me for a bit and I knew it had to be the same dog. Street animals are not an uncommon resident in any Jordanian neighborhood. However, a dog is! The majority and the mangiest of the street critters who frequent the local garbage dumpster in Jordan is the cat. I do not have a soft spot in my heart for the diseased felines of Amman but this pup from the other night was special. Jordan and I hit the street in search of the little guy/or girl. We were about to give up the search when we saw some neighborhood shabab(youth) kicking the dog and causing it to cry out and seek refuge under the dumpster. The boys had run away by the time we got to the little pup. Jordan was able to fish her( we found out latter that it was in fact a little she pup) out from underneath the refuse receptacle.<br />
<br />
It was love at first sight for Jordan. He swept her up in his arms and brought her immediately inside. I must say that I am usually opposed to bringing rabid street animals into homes but like I said previously this dog was different. She was scared and covered in dirt, filth, and grime. Jordan washed her till the water ran clear and he fed her some chicken and we got her some water. She was exhausted from the evening's events and went straight to bed out on the boy's balcony for the night.<br />
<br />
I was excited waking up this morning with hopes of taking Hiba (puppy) for a walk or teaching her some tricks. Dreams fizzled out as the boys informed me that the puppy's owner had come for the dog. The guys came across the little kid while playing tag football in the street. The little boy swore he didn't know anything about the dogs misadventures and promised to take better care of her. A little while later the boy returned asking if they had the dog again. The irresponsible brat had lost Hiba again. If I find her again, I will not be giving her back. I hope I see/ or hear from the pup soon.<br />

For those who have been following my blog for awhile, you might remember other posts about Sami. Sami and I study Arabic together at BYU and are now studying Arabic in Amman, Jordan. Sami al-Jamal is a half Louisianian-Palestinian from the village of Sureef and he lived in Ruseifa and Amman till he was eight. Today, he invited G-rat, Papa John and myself to journey to this small urinal-smelling town. Sami's auntie asked if I had a warm coat for winter here and when I replied, "No." She immediately ran out of the room and returned with jackets in hand. Arabs will literally give you the clothes off there backs. The hospitality in this country is remarkable and I grow to love these people more everyday. Thanks again Sami for sharing your family with us today.</div><br />

It has only been two days but I have quit Dr. Pepper cold turkey. In fact, I have quit soda all together because lets face it there isn't really any other soda than Dr. Pepper in my beverage world. The reasoning behind this life change, and believe me this is a life change, is purely for fear of my old bones. The word "phosphate" just sends chills down my spine. Secondly, I have developed an unhealthy dependency on the drink and I am out to regain my independence this summer. Finally, to make things a little more interesting, I am saving all the money I would have spent on the delicious drink and putting it towards a good cause. New SHOES. It is going to be a long summer.</div>Jenni Boylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00379847048002357418noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2782779912061818327.post-62378231519467040562011-05-12T10:04:00.000-07:002011-05-13T13:38:11.942-07:00niece pulled a natalie<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><br />

I am still convinced that my mom, Hayley, and Sarai are the only people in this world who even really read my blog. Cdfunk once tell me that my blog will never be "blogfamous" and to this day that does not really affect what I do with my own blog. In a world of chaos and random tangents, I have found my blog to be a place of refuge and reflection from/on the storm of thoughts that race through my head.<br />
<br />
The last little while, my world has been filled with:<br />
finalspackingcleaningfindingaplacetoallhomeforthesummermoreleaningeatingattendinggraduationsanddancepartiescleaningmoremovingunpackingsocializationingstudyingtrainingworkingnewjobandscrewinguponjobmeetinghandsomepeoplewithbeardscarproblemstiketsmakingofmoneyandphonecallshome.<br />
<br />
the usual.<br />
<br />
there have been so many new occurrences and new people that I can't help but miss the old. These last few weeks have moved so quickly that I barely have time to stop and think about people anymore. So many wonderful things are happening. Mission calls, baby bornings, weddings, graduations, big moves, new jobs, and even more grown up things. It makes me feel more in the mood for the next big thing for me. I feel like my next big thing is me holding on to a job longer than 2 months while going to school. I welcome this crazy adventure with open arms.<br />
<br />
Also, I think cdfunk is working on finding me a boyfriend as well. We will see how that goes.<br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I have never been a big believer in seat belts. I guess I never saw myself getting in a car accident. I honestly wear a belt 10% of the time that I drive. I do try to buckle up for the big freeway drive. Yesterday I was so glad that I buckled up for safety. Anyone who knows me knows that I have never been much of a driver. I hate driving. I am bad at it and I don't like doing things i don't enjoy. That might sound slightly hedonistic but those are the facts. After yesterday's bumper bash, I never want to drive again. Although I had a terrible morning, I was glad to catch The Arcade Fire show last night. Though the pushing of the crowd up front didn't really soothe my whiplash, I still had a great night. The kind of night that gives me more reason to buckle up while I drive.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3l6WMPfKISRsv1EvWX9ycfTPfpk_QNQWDWzAWU63pzTZzBuyBU4fS9lh7ou-u-tsz5uTUchtNvppdPw5DRY-VwIbrZP9MqWCy_aeQqmVK76x0XLnxBeZdmKh0n-MDTQCT_aDXfcdDJEqk/s1600/Buckle-Up-Image.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><br />

Also, I was approached by my friend ( the one who should have interviewed me) and was told I was the only one in my training group without a criminal record. </tbody></table>A weekend with family in St. George was just what I wanted for my birthday. My weekend was filled with some fun times: I got a speeding ticket, ate falafel and kabob with my mom, played with the niece and nephew, watched a Portuguese movie and Les Miserables with my papa, ate yummy cake, painted nails, slept in, didn't study...<div>It is a little after 9 and going home tonight does not seem like a possibility. St. George, you always suck me in.<br />

I had one of those days again. One of those days where I wish that I could be wired differently. Sometimes I wish I could be more organized, on tops of things, and well just able to complete my daily goals. I had a post awhile ago about my daily 5. I still do them and I had a big five-filled goal day today.<br />
<br />
1) Go to in-service work meeting with other facilitators.<br />
2) Help out a friend and be a model for his costume make-up class<br />
3) Win the BYU's Spelling Bee.<br />
4) Attend meeting for friend's new club "Friends of Palestine"<br />
5) Take my big history midterm at 8<br />
<br />
I was able to only do one of those 5. I took the test and I feel really good about it but the day did not start off the way I wanted. I woke up late and missed work meeting and coincidentally woke up at the exact minute I was suppose to meet my friend Adam. 13 minutes late I run to the HFAC hoping he is still there but he told me I was too late. I really disappointed him. Well, after that I felt really done and I threw myself into studying. I had to miss meeting and spelling bee....all things that I wish would have been on a different night.<br />
<br />
My biggest regret...letting down a really good friend. I can't stand feeling like I am undependable.<br />

Apparently, I lack focus and may be a bit to nonchalant in the ritualistic elements of courtship. With that all said, I tend to agree with some of these comments I have recently received. I have had a few misadventures in dating and now it would seem they are not all the boy's fault. Looks like I will just have to practice....or just stay home and watch enough romantic comedies to get it right.</div>Jenni Boylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00379847048002357418noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2782779912061818327.post-18263140560737198232011-02-23T17:17:00.000-08:002011-02-23T17:26:42.481-08:00Campus Crush<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizJxGA9DL_X6wKdZvkveGNTHHc9cJeMKIqRql0sKM3A6LANONi8TkzINtsPp0ni9X7M5FWn64qSAChH2d9uPKZg9yw0-v_nV_FyjEpZ29F9mV2-Yhl4dGqPuh4fGtmDF88orD0N96PPiKB/s1600/lover+birds.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEizJxGA9DL_X6wKdZvkveGNTHHc9cJeMKIqRql0sKM3A6LANONi8TkzINtsPp0ni9X7M5FWn64qSAChH2d9uPKZg9yw0-v_nV_FyjEpZ29F9mV2-Yhl4dGqPuh4fGtmDF88orD0N96PPiKB/s640/lover+birds.jpg" width="520" /></a></div>Do any of you have that mysterious someone you see in all your regular places and even randomly around school? Every day there is anew bunny to see. I have never wanted a bunny so much. I think I should get one for Easter. My room mates would be cool with that. I think.</div>Jenni Boylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00379847048002357418noreply@blogger.com5tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2782779912061818327.post-7754797999341377752011-02-15T23:02:00.000-08:002011-02-15T23:02:23.991-08:00<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on">There is a house( more like a hotel but lets keep things quaint). In this house there lives Couch. At first glance, Couch seems like a very normal and well-adjusted little piece of furniture. She once was covered with a purple patterned throw from Bed Bath and Beyond but is now completely unhidden. She has no complexes about her rips, tears, or stains but rather she embraces them and wears them like badges of honor. She is obviously older in years and would justifiable be a little rough around the edges in manner and smell but she is not. While all seems normal and average, something is different about Couch. Couch has one of those magnetic personalities. Upon entering the house, everyone is drawn to her. Couch has a way of relieving stress in peoples lives. Her inviting manner allows friends to sit, relax, and forget all their problems. I love Couch. She has been so good to me but I am afraid that Couch and I must sever our ties at this point in time. Couch has distracted me too much from my studies. She exhaust me. Her very presence makes my eyes go heavy. I don't need comfort. I need life and energy. No more sleep when there is studying to be done. I am just going to stop spending so much time with her and just stay at school more. It is for the best.</div>Jenni Boylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00379847048002357418noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2782779912061818327.post-45513856529857643472011-02-11T16:11:00.000-08:002011-02-11T16:11:41.746-08:00Free at last<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1jJeoNjsHup8N9mp_l5EnruS9sRfsfYJvpJhDuXddUFT0zZg30IzCfXETpscrYaDUjpSzvEDfQ0uGCwPcpdAKr2Frqywi_6U75CGrAgc5CG0kvAlaor6MWyJ0b6s97jfJVQI1lI2b8Uo_/s1600/Egypt_Free.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="464" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEg1jJeoNjsHup8N9mp_l5EnruS9sRfsfYJvpJhDuXddUFT0zZg30IzCfXETpscrYaDUjpSzvEDfQ0uGCwPcpdAKr2Frqywi_6U75CGrAgc5CG0kvAlaor6MWyJ0b6s97jfJVQI1lI2b8Uo_/s640/Egypt_Free.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>Mubarak stepping down from his position as the president of Egypt has several meanings.<br />
Firstly, It means freedom for the Egyptian people. Their country now belongs to them.<br />
Second, It means that there is a chance that the country could stabilize just in time for us to end up studying Arabic there this fall.<br />
Thirdly, This day has meant full points on all in-class assignments and gives us Middle East Studies majors to throw a raging party celebrating Egyptian independence.</div>Jenni Boylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00379847048002357418noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2782779912061818327.post-52986348730932030202011-02-10T09:02:00.000-08:002011-02-10T09:02:46.940-08:00Pinching Pennies<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy96nRLpC1beF2H03marolHfGqj7SE_vUVy9qZjVJa49lNgahJulYznPA3YMVfHd2Ho_lql-0Olj5uvEBcz_j6UL0nbxyii6nnr5qWKzV8CGVmNjbH-5H3usVOy8KjOqFQXpHdbKSFyFze/s1600/coachella-2011-lineup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjy96nRLpC1beF2H03marolHfGqj7SE_vUVy9qZjVJa49lNgahJulYznPA3YMVfHd2Ho_lql-0Olj5uvEBcz_j6UL0nbxyii6nnr5qWKzV8CGVmNjbH-5H3usVOy8KjOqFQXpHdbKSFyFze/s640/coachella-2011-lineup.jpg" width="478" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">I have been wanting to save up money, gather friends, and go to a Coachella Fest show for quite some time and this year's lineup is looking too good to ignore but I have bigger things to also save up money for( i.e. mandatory study abroad). Is anyone else interested? We could eat and sleep down there for free. My aunt lives about ten minutes away from the Polo grounds. Sure the festival is around finals time but.........Kanye!</div></div>Jenni Boylehttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00379847048002357418noreply@blogger.com8
